January 22, 2021Batwoman has failed, ratings have totally tanked, and it’s time for the blame game.
Batwoman Season 2 is finally airing, but the premiere episode of this season failed to attract the viewers the CW was looking for. After experiencing significant production delays thanks to COVID-19, the network and showrunners alike were likely hoping fans would be excited for Batwoman to return. Still, when the episode aired last Saturday, viewers didn’t seem to show up.
This was supposed to be an important season for Batwoman since the show is going through a rebrand. The former series lead Ruby Rose, who played Kate Kane, left the show after Season 1, partially due to a severe neck injury and creative differences. Rather than recast the character Kate Kane, the producers behind Batwoman decided to introduce a new character named Ryan Wilder, played by Javicia Leslie. The hope seemed to be that this new character would rebrand the series and draw in more viewers.
